WELCOME
It has been 25 years since I took my first painting class. Thanks to everyone who purchased my books and took my classes. Thank you for the friendships we have made over the years. And, a special Thank You to Viking Woodcrafts and everyone who helped put this book together.
Ray, my husband has worked very hard so I could have a painting career. The stories we share. We started doing craft shows pulling a small wooden open trailer with our van. We paid $50 for it; that is what we could afford. Looking like it was on its last legs, I thought about writing a sign, “Don’t laugh, it’s paid for.” I do remember a windy trip and our tarp flying off on Interstate 90. All of my painted tin-ware came flying out. Really, those were wonderful memories. Times like these taught us patience, even through times of great adversity. We just never gave up!
I remember at my first craft show, I sold my only item, a painted
sweatshirt at 9:00 am, the mall closed at 9:00 pm. I was sitting in the corner crying and saying “never again.” Twenty five years later, I’m still at it. We were blessed. We made a full-time living at a job we really enjoyed. There were many days I could have given up but I didn’t. Don’t you either. Painting has given me not only a gift, but a freedom to create that I never knew I had before.
I hear all the time “I can’t paint, can’t even draw a stick man.” First, you don’t need to draw. This is a technique anyone can learn. If you can hold a pen in your hand, foot, or mouth, you can paint. Please, try a class in your area. It will bring you great joy!
